Craftsmanship & Detail

The table is constructed from richly coloured mahogany, displaying attractive natural grain, a warm mellow tone and the depth of patina associated with well-preserved Victorian furniture.

The rounded rectangular top features gently softened corners and a finely moulded edge, creating an elegant outline while retaining the practical proportions required for regular family use.

The table stands on four substantial turned baluster legs with carved fluting, terminating in brass and ceramic castors. Their bold but restrained form gives the table a confident Victorian character without appearing excessively heavy.

A traditional pull-out extending mechanism allows the table to be enlarged with the supplied extension leaf. When closed, the table measures 134cm in length, making it manageable for everyday dining. With the leaf fitted, it extends to 187cm, providing useful additional space for entertaining family and guests.

The table offers generous width at 120cm, creating ample space for place settings, serving dishes and centrepieces while maintaining a comfortable and well-proportioned dining surface.

Condition Report

Presented in good antique condition with age-related wear, marks, scratches, colour variation and surface movement consistent with approximately 140 years of use.

The mahogany top retains an attractive warm colour and patina, with visible surface marks, light scratches, small stains and areas of wear throughout. There is some variation in colour between the main table top and the extension leaf, as clearly shown in the photographs.

The pull-out extending mechanism operates and the table is supplied with one extension leaf. The table stands securely and the legs remain structurally sound.
