Key Features

  • Napoleon III manner, circa 1880
  • Fully opening fan of pierced trellis brass panels
  • Classical female mask with scrolling acanthus to the central upright
  • Decorative fleur-de-lis finial
  • Richly cast acanthus and scroll base
  • Folding mechanism operates smoothly

Craftsmanship & Detail

The screen opens fully to a broad fan of pierced trellis brass panels, each terminating in a scalloped circular roundel. The central upright panel features a classical female mask with scrolling acanthus shoulders set within a pierced foliate arch, surmounted by a decorative fleur-de-lis finial. The whole is supported on a richly cast acanthus and scroll base of considerable weight and quality. The original gilded brass finish retains its characteristic warm patina. Pieces of this type, in this condition and with the mechanism intact, are seldom encountered.
