Craftsmanship & Detail
The wardrobe is constructed from beautifully figured satinwood, displaying a warm golden colour, attractive natural figuring and the depth of patina associated with well-preserved Edwardian furniture.
The architectural breakfront form is crowned by a finely moulded cornice above decorative friezes ornamented with repeating Neoclassical motifs. Fine dentil moulding and restrained architectural detailing create a balanced and imposing silhouette.
Each outer door is centred by an elaborately decorated panel incorporating classical urns, delicate floral swags, scrolling foliage and finely executed oval scenes depicting cherubic figures. The decoration is enhanced by fine line inlay and contrasting timbers, demonstrating the skill and attention to detail of the original cabinetmaker.
The central section is fitted with a tall bevelled mirror, framed by geometric corner details and opening to reveal useful fitted storage. The interior incorporates shelving above three practical drawers, while the outer wardrobe compartments provide generous hanging space with brass hooks.
