Overview
A substantial and highly decorative vintage set of ten mahogany dining chairs, comprising eight matching side chairs and two carver armchairs. With their unusually tall upholstered backs, rich mahogany frames and generous proportions, the set has excellent presence and is ideally suited to a large dining table or formal dining room.
Each chair is upholstered in a warm coral-red fabric decorated with repeating classical-style motifs. Traditional decorative studding follows the lower edges of the upholstery, providing an attractive contrast against the polished mahogany frames.

Craftsmanship & Detail
The proportions are one of the strongest features of this set. Standing approximately 113cm high, the tall backs create a strong architectural appearance around a dining table while maintaining an elegant and relatively restrained profile.
The mahogany frames have a rich polished colour, with slender channelled front legs providing definition without making the chairs appear overly heavy. The two carver chairs complement the eight side chairs and feature shaped mahogany arms with upholstered armrests.
The coral-red upholstery gives the set considerable decorative impact. Its repeating traditional motif works particularly well with the warm mahogany, while the studded edging provides a classic finishing detail around the seats and backs.
A matching set of ten chairs is considerably more versatile for a substantial dining setting than the more commonly encountered sets of six or eight. The inclusion of two carvers also gives the set the traditional configuration required for a large formal dining table.
These chairs would work particularly well within a country house, period property, traditional dining room or alongside a substantial mahogany dining table.
