Design & Proportion
The cabinet is conceived as a broad two-part storage and display piece, with a glazed upper section providing extensive visible display space and a more solid lower cabinet providing enclosed storage.
Three pairs of glazed doors extend across the upper section, each opening to fitted shelving suitable for books, ceramics, glassware, decorative objects or a substantial collection.
Below, a continuous row of six drawers sits above six panelled cupboard doors, creating an exceptionally useful storage arrangement while maintaining a balanced and architectural façade.
Carved Decoration
The lower cabinet is particularly distinctive for its repeated carved botanical decoration. Branches, foliage and blossom-like motifs are worked in relief across the cupboard doors, giving the cabinet texture and visual rhythm without overwhelming the overall form.
Further carved decoration appears across the drawer fronts, creating continuity between the upper and lower parts of the cabinet. The warm colour of the timber allows this carving to read clearly across the wide façade.
Traditional brass fittings provide a pleasing contrast against the dark wood and reinforce the cabinet's Chinese-inspired decorative character.
Display & Storage
One of the strengths of this cabinet is the combination of extensive display space and concealed storage. The glazed upper section gives excellent visibility across a wide frontage, while the lower cupboards provide practical room for items that do not need to remain on view.
The six drawers add further useful storage for smaller items, making the cabinet particularly practical for a large living room, dining room, library, commercial interior or collector's space.
At over two metres wide, this is a substantial piece and works best where it can be given enough wall space to retain its impressive proportions.
A Large Decorative Statement Piece
With its broad architectural form, dark hardwood construction, extensive glazing and carved lower cabinetry, this piece has considerable decorative presence.
It would work particularly well as a display cabinet for ceramics, books, glassware or decorative collections, while the lower section offers the practical advantage of substantial concealed storage.
