Craftsmanship & Detail

The cabinet is beautifully crafted in richly figured mahogany enhanced by contrasting satinwood inlay and finely executed marquetry decoration throughout. The upper section comprises two glazed display cabinets with elegant shaped glazing bars flanking a central mirrored compartment, ideal for displaying decorative objects, antiques, or collections. Below, a pair of inlaid cupboard doors provide additional concealed storage. The architectural breakfront form together with the pediment top gives the cabinet exceptional presence, while the finely turned and carved legs united by a shaped undertier shelf complete the refined Victorian silhouette. A fine example of late 19th century craftsmanship combining elegance, scale, and practicality.

Presented in good antique condition commensurate with age and entirely consistent with a genuine Victorian piece of this quality. The satinwood inlay and marquetry decoration remain intact throughout, displaying excellent clarity, warmth, and definition. The glazing is complete and intact across all sections.

The blue velvet linings are well preserved with attractive age-related patina, while the central mirror displays foxing consistent with original period glass — entirely characterful and expected for a cabinet of this age. Minor age-consistent wear is present throughout, adding authenticity and charm. An honest description from a specialist dealer with over 60 years of family experience.
