Craftsmanship & Detail
The bureau is constructed from beautifully figured satinwood displaying a warm golden colour and attractive natural movement throughout. Its elegant bombe-shaped profile is enhanced by fine line inlay and extensive hand-painted decoration extending across the fall front, drawer fronts and shaped side panels.
The fall front is centred by a charming oval painted panel depicting a cherubic figure, framed by flowing ribbons, floral garlands and scrolling classical ornament. Further painted swags decorate each drawer front, creating a highly cohesive and visually striking design from top to bottom.
Opening the fall front reveals a fitted writing interior incorporating shaped pigeonholes, small drawers and a central cupboard decorated with a further painted figural panel. The arrangement provides useful storage for correspondence, stationery and personal items, while the fall creates a generous writing surface when open.
Beneath are four graduated drawers offering substantial practical storage. Each drawer retains attractive circular brass handles and is enriched with individually painted floral garlands, ribbons and foliage. The curved sides are similarly decorated with classical urns, foliage and tied ribbon motifs.
Decorative satinwood furniture of this scale and quality remains highly sought after by collectors, interior designers and discerning homeowners. Equally suited to a bedroom, drawing room, study, hallway or luxury interior, this bureau combines useful storage with exceptional decorative presence.
