Description

A fine Belle Époque Vernis Martin commode in the Louis XV taste, circa 1900.

The serpentine bombe form supports an original breccia marble top above two long drawers. The drawers and sides are adorned with finely painted Vernis Martin pastoral panels framed by elaborate rococo ormolu mounts.

Veneered in kingwood of warm colour and strong figure, the chest retains a pleasing patina and presents beautifully.

A decorative yet practical example of Parisian furniture from the turn of the 20th century.
