Craftsmanship & Detail

The upper section features a pair of elegant Gothic arched astragal glazed doors opening to a shelved interior ideal for books, porcelain, or decorative objects - the finely proportioned glazing bars lending the piece a refined architectural presence characteristic of the late Georgian period. The secretaire drawer reveals a beautifully fitted satinwood interior comprising a central cupboard flanked by an arrangement of small drawers and pigeonholes with a pull-out writing surface - demonstrating the skilled English cabinetmaking tradition of combining functionality with restrained elegance. The three full-width drawers below provide generous storage and excellent balance to the overall form, the whole standing on shaped bracket feet and finished with a gently moulded cornice and turned finials above.
