Craftsmanship & Detail

The raised superstructure provides practical storage with two cupboard doors, a central drawer, and open compartment space ideal for stationery or writing accessories. The lower section features three drawers, including a long central drawer, all decorated with delicate floral painted motifs and retaining their original handles. The finely hand-painted oval portrait panels depicting classical female figures are particularly well executed and beautifully preserved. Raised on slender tapering legs with further painted decoration, this desk is an elegant example of English Edwardian satinwood furniture, combining practicality with refined decorative craftsmanship throughout.

Presented in very good condition for a piece of over 120 years old. The hand-painted portrait panels are particularly well preserved - vivid, intact, and showing no significant paint loss or restoration. The satinwood surfaces retain excellent colour and attractive figuring throughout. All drawers operate smoothly and all original handles are present and secure.

Minor age-consistent wear to edges and surfaces is entirely in keeping with a genuine Edwardian piece and adds to its authentic character. An honest description from a specialist dealer with over 60 years of family experience.
