Description

Overview

A fine 19th century satinwood demi-lune games and card table, decorated throughout with elegant neo-classical painted ornament. The portrait medallions, floral garlands, and hand-painted urn and swag motifs combine to create a piece of exceptional decorative quality - equally impressive as a card table, occasional table, or decorative centrepiece.

Key Features

19th century - satinwood with neo-classical painted decoration throughout
Demi-lune form
Portrait medallions and floral garlands to the top within a detailed border
Hand-painted urn and swag motifs continuing around the frieze and legs
Hinged top opening to a green baize playing surface
Single central drawer for cards and accessories
Four tapering legs with crisp block feet

Craftsmanship & Detail

The top features portrait medallions and floral garlands within a detailed painted border - the hand-painted urn and swag motifs continuing around the frieze and legs with complete decorative consistency. The hinged top opens to reveal a green baize playing surface, making the piece as practical as it is beautiful. The single central drawer provides useful storage for cards and accessories, while the four tapering legs with crisp block feet give the piece an elegant and well-resolved stance. Highly decorative and genuinely usable - perfect for period interiors, drawing rooms, entrance halls, or a sophisticated modern setting seeking one exceptional statement piece.

Purchased a beautiful 19th century French kingwood display cabinet from Hawkins Antiques. I am delighted with my purchase and would love to purchase from here again in the future! Lee provided excellent communication with very quick and thorough responses. Delivery was arranged extremely quickly and the delivery duo did a brilliant job up a narrow staircase, getting the cabinet into position safely and without issue. Highly recommend Lee and all at Hawkins Antiques!

Our house was built in 1820, so I have been slowly acquiring furniture from the same period. The piece is perfect & arrived very quickly too.

We purchased a table from Hawkins Antique and it is absolutely stunning and a mint condition! Delivery was very fast and the delivery team were fantastic and really went the extra mile to get the table into the house - it wasn't simple due to our narrow front door, but the guys managed to get it in, keeping the table safe along the way! Highly recommend - very happy! Made another purchase already!
