The porcelain plaques depict cherubs and romantic pastoral scenes painted with the refinement characteristic of the finest French decorative workshops of the period - each plaque framed within detailed ormolu surrounds whose weight and colour sit in perfect accord with the warm tones of the kingwood beneath. Figural caryatids, mythological figures, and floriate appliqués cover every transition point, ensuring there is no surface that does not repay close attention.
