Craftsmanship & Detail

The rectangular top is richly veneered in beautifully figured burr walnut displaying warm colour and dramatic natural grain, highlighted by finely executed marquetry inlay to the border and central panel. The fold-over mechanism opens to reveal the original green baize playing surface, allowing the table to function as both an elegant console and a practical games table. Raised on a turned central column with four reeded supports and splayed legs terminating in original brass castors, the piece combines stability with refined Victorian design. The overall proportions and decorative detailing create a timeless and highly versatile antique table suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

This games table is presented in very good antique condition for its age. The burr walnut veneers remain sound throughout with no significant lifting or losses, displaying excellent colour and attractive aged patination. Minor surface wear consistent with regular historic use is present and adds warmth and authenticity to the piece. The marquetry inlay remains complete and intact throughout the top, base platform, and legs with no missing sections.

The fold-over mechanism operates correctly and the top sits level and firm in both the closed and open positions. The original green baize playing surface displays age-related marking and light wear entirely consistent with genuine use and age, whilst remaining fully functional. The turned base remains firm and stable with no evident repairs or replacements. All four original brass castors are present and functioning correctly, and the central urn-and-finial remains intact.
