Why Hawkins Antiques?

Description

Overview

A refined Edwardian satinwood side cabinet, beautifully decorated with hand-painted neo-classical panels depicting elegant female figures within oval reserves. The painted floral and foliate ornament, warm satinwood ground, and shaped glazed top combine to create a cabinet of considerable decorative charm and practical versatility.

Key Features

Edwardian period - satinwood with neo-classical painted decoration
Hand-painted oval reserve panels depicting elegant female figures
Further painted floral and foliate ornament throughout
Warm satinwood ground with excellent colour and patina
Shaped glazed top
Single long drawer above two panelled cupboard doors
Shelved interior providing practical storage
Slender turned legs with well-balanced proportions

Craftsmanship & Detail

The hand-painted neo-classical panels depicting elegant female figures within oval reserves are applied with considerable refinement - the painted floral and foliate ornament throughout complementing the warm satinwood ground in a decorative programme of complete consistency. The shaped glazed top adds a further layer of refinement and protection, while the single drawer and two panelled cupboard doors with shelved interior provide generous practical storage. Raised on slender turned legs, the well-balanced proportions allow this cabinet to sit comfortably in a dining room, hallway, drawing room, or bedroom - equally at ease in traditional and contemporary interiors alike.

Purchased a beautiful 19th century French kingwood display cabinet from Hawkins Antiques. I am delighted with my purchase and would love to purchase from here again in the future! Lee provided excellent communication with very quick and thorough responses. Delivery was arranged extremely quickly and the delivery duo did a brilliant job up a narrow staircase, getting the cabinet into position safely and without issue. Highly recommend Lee and all at Hawkins Antiques!

Our house was built in 1820, so I have been slowly acquiring furniture from the same period. The piece is perfect & arrived very quickly too.

We purchased a table from Hawkins Antique and it is absolutely stunning and a mint condition! Delivery was very fast and the delivery team were fantastic and really went the extra mile to get the table into the house - it wasn't simple due to our narrow front door, but the guys managed to get it in, keeping the table safe along the way! Highly recommend - very happy! Made another purchase already!
