Craftsmanship & Detail

The compactum is crafted in richly figured satinwood, displaying the warm golden colouring and refined finish associated with the finest Edwardian furniture. The exterior is beautifully decorated with intricate marquetry inlay, including floral swags, scrolling acanthus, and foliate motifs executed with exceptional precision and decorative balance. The central section features a bank of drawers beneath double cupboard doors, while the flanking sections open to reveal full-length hanging space behind striking original mirrored doors. Condition Report

The compactum is presented in good antique condition commensurate with its age of over 100 years. The satinwood veneer is sound and well-preserved throughout, retaining a warm golden patina consistent with a genuine period piece. The marquetry inlay remains intact across all surfaces - the floral swags, scrolling acanthus, and foliate motifs are all clearly defined and well preserved with no significant losses of note.

The four drawers run smoothly and the central cupboard together with the flanking hanging sections are fully functional with their original fittings intact. The oval mirrored doors retain their original mirror plates and the gilt acorn finial remains present and intact.
