Craftsmanship & Detail

The rectangular top is finely bookmatched in richly figured West Indian satinwood, highlighted by elegant mahogany crossbanding which enhances the contrast and precision typical of the Regency period. The top opens to reveal a traditional baize playing surface, allowing the piece to function equally well as both a decorative centre table and a practical games or card table. Raised on a solid central pedestal with reeded detailing, the table stands on a shaped quatreform base terminating in finely carved bun feet, providing excellent stability together with strong visual presence. A beautifully proportioned example of early 19th century English furniture combining craftsmanship, practicality, and timeless Regency elegance.

In very good condition for a piece of this age. The satinwood veneers are sound and display with excellent clarity and warmth throughout, with no lifting or losses of note. The mahogany crossbanding remains intact and well preserved. The baize playing surface is clean and well presented with only light age-related wear consistent with genuine historic use.

The carved bun feet are all present and undamaged, while the central pedestal remains solid and stable with no wobble. The original polish and patina have been preserved throughout, giving the table an honest and characterful appearance entirely appropriate for a Regency piece of this calibre.
