Craftsmanship & Detail

The wardrobe is beautifully veneered in richly figured mahogany arranged in striking chevron patterns across the flanking doors, creating exceptional warmth and depth of colour throughout. The large central bevelled mirror door is framed by finely moulded borders and surmounted by an elegant serpentine cornice with decorative ribbon cresting in the Louis XVI manner. Finely cast gilt bronze ormolu mounts decorate the corners, friezes, legs, and door panels, reflecting the luxurious craftsmanship associated with high-quality Parisian furniture in the manner of François Linke. Internally, the armoire offers generous hanging space together with fitted drawers to the base section, combining impressive decorative presence with excellent practicality.

The wardrobe is presented in all original antique condition with a rich warm mahogany patina developed naturally over many decades. The chevron veneers retain excellent colour and character throughout, while the structure remains sound and stable.

The gilt bronze ormolu mounts have naturally oxidised over time, giving the piece an authentic aged appearance entirely consistent with genuine late 19th century French furniture. Importantly, the original gilt bronze remains beneath the oxidation and could be professionally cleaned should a buyer wish to reveal more of the original gilded finish. The central bevelled mirror plate presents well, and the interior hanging sections together with the fitted drawers remain present and functional. Honest age-related wear and natural patination throughout enhance the authenticity and charm of this exceptional armoire.
