Overview
An exceptionally decorative antique French Louis XVI Revival mahogany bedroom suite dating from circa 1900, comprising a large mirrored wardrobe, matching double bed and bedside pot cupboard.
Conceived as a complete matching ensemble, the suite displays the refined symmetry and classical ornament associated with the Louis XVI style. Warm mahogany and mahogany-toned veneers are arranged in striking geometric patterns throughout, complemented by an extensive collection of gilt-metal mounts including floral wreaths, ribbon-tied garlands, paterae, foliate sprays and decorative finials.
The impressive scale of the wardrobe and bed, together with the survival of the matching bedside cupboard, makes this a particularly striking antique bedroom suite for a substantial bedroom, country house, boutique hotel or luxury interior.

Craftsmanship & Detail
The wardrobe forms an impressive centrepiece, standing approximately 240 cm high and featuring a sweeping moulded cornice centred by an elaborate gilt-metal floral wreath and ribbon crest. The architectural façade is further enriched with gilt floral paterae, foliate mounts and ribbon-tied ornament.
Two tall shaped doors incorporate full-length bevelled mirror plates framed by geometric veneering. Below is a broad veneered plinth section decorated with a central gilt-metal mount, the whole raised on turned feet. Internally, the wardrobe offers generous practical storage with shelving, drawers and open storage space.
The matching bed continues the same decorative vocabulary. Its tall shaped headboard displays particularly attractive geometric veneer work centred around a subtle diamond motif, while the substantial footboard is centred by an oval panel embellished with an elaborate gilt-metal swag, ribbon and pendant mount. Further gilt-metal foliate sprays and classical details appear throughout the bed frame.
The matching bedside pot cupboard is a particularly desirable survival and completes the suite. It features a marble top above a small drawer and cupboard, with corresponding geometric veneering and gilt-metal ornament, raised on slender turned supports joined by a lower undertier.
