A highly decorative antique French kingwood pedestal stand dating from the late 19th century, beautifully crafted in the Louis XV taste. The serpentine Breche d'Alep marble top sits above an elegant waisted body veneered in richly figured kingwood and adorned with finely cast ormolu mounts.

Craftsmanship & Detail

The front features a charming Vernis Martin style panel depicting a gentleman in a garden setting, framed by decorative gilt metal mounts. The sides display attractive parquetry inlaid panels within shaped ormolu borders, adding depth and refinement to the design.

The shaped supports are finished with ornate ormolu mounts and sabots, united by a lower undertier with further parquetry detail. The combination of kingwood, marble, mirrored panels, and gilt metal mounts gives this piece a luxurious decorative presence, making it ideal for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
