Craftsmanship & Detail

The jardinière is beautifully veneered in richly figured burr walnut displaying excellent depth of grain and warm colour throughout. Finely cast ormolu mounts decorate the corners and frieze with scrolling foliate detail characteristic of quality late 19th century French Louis XV inspired furniture. Raised on elegant cabriole legs terminating in decorative ormolu sabots, the piece combines strong decorative presence with refined proportions. The original fitted metal liner remains in place, allowing the jardinière to function practically as an indoor planter or floral display whilst also serving beautifully as a decorative accent piece within luxury interiors.

This jardinière is presented in good antique condition and remains an honest example of a well-preserved late 19th century French piece. The burr walnut veneers are largely sound throughout and retain excellent figure and colour, with minor surface wear and a small number of veneer blemishes entirely commensurate with age and genuine use.

The ormolu mounts remain complete throughout and retain attractive gilding with natural aged patination. The original metal liner displays surface oxidation and wear consistent with genuine historic use as a jardinière, entirely expected and not affecting functionality. The cabriole legs remain firm and stable, while all four original ormolu sabots are present and intact - an important detail often missing on examples of this type.
