A fine quality late 19th century mahogany inlaid games table by the renowned London makers Edwards & Roberts.
Of elegant serpentine form, the fold-over top is beautifully decorated with intricate marquetry incorporating scrolling foliate motifs and a central panel of classical putti. The richness of the mahogany is enhanced by satinwood and contrasting veneers, demonstrating the refined craftsmanship for which Edwards & Roberts were celebrated.
Opening to reveal a circular baize-lined playing surface, the interior retains its original fitted counter dishes and gaming compartments, making it both decorative and practical.
Raised on square tapering legs with further inlay detail and retaining the original brass castors.
The underside stamped Edwards & Roberts, confirming authenticity.
A refined and highly decorative example of Victorian cabinet making, suitable for a drawing room, library, or formal reception space.
