GILLOWS

Gillows of Lancaster & London, founded in 1727 by Robert Gillow, is a distinguished name in English furniture history. Renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship and innovative designs, Gillows quickly gained prominence for their high-quality mahogany pieces. The firm's expansion to London in the mid-18th century allowed them to cater to the elite, producing bespoke furniture that blended functionality with elegance.

Gillows' notable contributions include the development of the extending dining table and a variety of finely crafted chairs, cabinets, and tables. Their designs spanned multiple styles, including Georgian, Regency, and Victorian, each characterized by meticulous detail and superior materials.

In the late 19th century, Gillows merged with Waring & Co to form Waring & Gillow, adapting to modern market demands while preserving their legacy. Today, Gillows' furniture is highly prized by collectors and remains a symbol of the pinnacle of English craftsmanship.
